BioI am 27 years old and still in school. I will be in school forever. Just means I can defer those student loans!! Woo.
I'm the oldest of four kids (2 sisters, 22 and 18, and a baby brother who is 13). My dad is a Virologist, and my mom is an artist, so growing up was a lot of fun. I started writing fanfic back in the day (like, 12 years ago) for another show that most of us probably know and love, The X-Files. I will be the first to admit that I was a big nerd. Wait...did I say 'was'? Okay, okay, so I still am a big nerd. But I embrace my geekiness fully these days. Hi, my name is Mel, and I am addicted to CSI, House, and Harry Potter. It probably worries my friends.
In addition to attending Hood College and Capella University, I also have a full-time job in an antiviral research lab (yeah, I'm a lab geek too). I don't sleep much.
I am married; my wedding was awesome. My husband and I flew out to Vegas (which is totally my favorite place in the country), then took a helicopter out to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, where we exchanged vows. I can identify with Sara a bit, as my husband is 15 years older than me and is my former mentor/instructor. Proof that any older man/younger woman ship can sail!!! He's wonderful, and even refrains from calling the men in white coats when I scream at the TV. What a guy.
Other than that, I have two insane cats, Fuji and Kira, who are my 'practice children'. I'm learning all kinds of things not to do. 'Whoops, guess I shouldn't have left *that* expensive breakable object out where they could reach it!' I figure that by the time I decide to breed, I'll at least have some kind of clue!
